Opportunities

Work and business opportunities passed to the branch, and the national employment service.

Positions and business opportunities are passed to the branch by members, by other branches and by local employers. They are listed here as a convenience — the branch has no involvement in any appointment and offers no guarantee about any of them.

Business opportunity: pest control

A business suited to an active person who enjoys working outdoors: a pest control business based on that of a mole catcher, using traditional traps rather than poisons or sonic devices.

Based in the High Peak, the business deals with other pests as well, and has the advantages of low overheads and established contracts with park authorities and golf courses. Full training is given, with ongoing support.

NARPO employment service

The national association maintains a jobs and opportunities service for retired officers, and NARPO News carries employment opportunities in every quarterly issue. Both are open to all members.

Details are on the NARPO website.

Have something to list?

If you know of a vacancy or a business opportunity that would suit a retired officer, send the details to the Branch Secretary and it will be added here and circulated by email.

Volunteering with the branch

The management committee serves more than 1,700 members, and it is always looking for people willing to get involved. No particular experience is needed — come to a meeting and see what is involved.
