Welcome to Manchester & District NARPO
The National Association of Retired Police Officers.
Formed in 1919 to safeguard the rights of retired officers and their families, and to promote measures for their welfare — with particular regard to pensions.
Who we are
NARPO was formed in 1919 as a non-rank organisation in England and Wales for retired police officers and their widows, widowers and partners. Its aim is to safeguard the rights of members and to promote measures for their welfare, with particular regard to pensions.
Links have been forged over the years with all the major political parties. NARPO’s expertise is recognised nationally, and the organisation is called on regularly for advice and comment by politicians, civil servants and other staff associations. At a time when pensions are high on the agenda, NARPO has given evidence, written and oral, to a number of government enquiries including Hutton and Windsor.
Locally, over the last few years, NARPO has helped members in Greater Manchester whose injury pensions were reduced automatically at the age of 65 to win back their former banding.

The obituaries register
Every death notified to the branch since 2006 is recorded here — filed by year, searchable by name, and running to more than 1,800 entries. It is the most-read part of the branch website.
Where an entry says only that someone was a branch member, that is all we were told. If you send us your own career profile, you will be remembered as you would want to be.

The 200 Club
Our 200 Club is a private lottery, so taking part is restricted to members of NARPO. Each chance costs £5 a month, paid by bank standing order.
There are three prizes every month — £350, £250 and £150 — and a £1,000 prize is drawn at the Summer Buffet Lunch and again at the Christmas Lunch.
Details of how to pay are available from the Branch Treasurer.
