Autumn 2026

Hello and welcome to the latest newsletter.

Hello and welcome to the latest newsletter.
It seems that summer is well and truly over and the temperatures are cooling and its nearly time to switch the heating on!!!
We have had a busy few months in the Narpo world with meetings and a very enjoyaable conference in sunny Torquay. The conference was good but I think Torquay is to be avoided it has certainly seen better days!!.
Mind you in 2027 we are in Blackpool!! We do get about!!
I hope that you have all had a chance to look at our new website and like it.
There has been a lot of work this summer to bring it up to date and I have worked closely with Luke a Web developer who has been excellent.
I have even been taught how to updase it. You have to keep your IT Skills up to date in this E world.
You will notice that the Obituary page can contain much more information than our previous one and so this is a very nice way to remember our past colleagues.
The only information we have is what is supplied either by the member or more often their family. Please do consider supplying the branch with a Career profile or preparing one that your family can access. A photograph is always a nice tribute as well.
If any family member wishes to add a photograph or more information to an obituary on the website then please email me with the information and I will update it.
There is also a photo archive on the Website so if you have any photographs of your service or special events that you would like to share then please send them to me and they can be added.
All the best
Michael

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well. We are still working hard on your behalf, sorting out the Christmas Lunch (I know, but it isn’t far off) and this years Christmas cards to Widows and widowers. That is as well as the Birthday cards we send you on your big birthdays, complete with vouchers.  We still have the day to day work we do, and we are happy to welcome Laura Lewis as our next Treasurer.  She will take over from Maureen in the new financial year. Thankyou to Laura, who answered our plea for new members.  We still need more members on the Committee to share the load, as I will be finishing at the next AGM, so please come along to a Meeting and see what it is all about.  We have also had a couple of replies from people who are happy to deliver Christmas cards in their area, which is great. So if you live in the GMP area or an area where people retire to, we can always do with help.

We now have a lovely new website so make sure you have a look at it, and we are on the GMP intranet hoping to contact serving officers before they retire.   Take care and stay safe.

                              Sandie Wilde MA      Chair.

Widows Christmas Cards and Vouchers.

Each year we deliver cards and vouchers to our Widow members. We like to try and deliver by hand as  as many as possible to ensure  a personal touch, If you are able top help deliver some then please let us know  and if you can come along to our next Branch meeting on 2nd December at Hough End we will distribute the cards then.  Please let me know if you can help. Email me on:   manchester@narpo.org

Dont forget that British Summer Time is coming to an end and the clocks go back one hour on Sunday, 25 October 2026 at 2:00 am.
                                                      Can you help?
I have had an email from John Bamford the Secretary of the Rochdale Branch.
A member of the Rochdale Branch is trying to trace a former colleague John Jamieson.
John retired about 10 years ago and served on the A Division.
If you can help can you contact John directly on Rochdale@narpo.org

Support is available regardless of former role, length of service, how long ago an individual left policing, or the circumstances surrounding their departure. This is a significant development and an important benefit for our members, recognising the lasting impact that policing can have on mental wellbeing.Further information can be found at:

                                                   Career profiles.
You may find that it is a good idea to prepare a career profile to be used in the fullness of time.
It may save your family and loved ones a task at an important time and is one less thing to worry about. You may like to add a photograph as well.
Just send it to me and I will store it in the Branch files.
                                              Keeping things up to date.
I am just reminding you please to let me know if any of your contact details have changed.
I don’t want you to miss out on Narpo circulations and the Narpo news magazine.
Just let me know if you have moved or changed any of your contact details including your Email address and I will update the Narpo Database.
